Your role with us

Investigator is a new position in the Department of Education, and you will work both operationally and preventively with cross-departmental support to operational areas, departments, and management regarding various investigations as well as complaint management.

You will closely collaborate with the department's operational controllers and prepare documentation and work on the investigations that the administration identifies as necessary to carry out based on decision matters in the administration and the board, initiative matters, and upcoming legal requirements, etc.

You will provide expert knowledge and support and guidance to the administration's managers in school legal matters. The work also includes conducting qualified investigative work in complex cases and drafting responses and statements to authorities such as the School Inspectorate, the Children's Ombudsman, and to guardians. Work on developing routines and governing documents as well as supporting operations in addressing identified deficiencies related to reports and complaints are also tasks included in the assignment.

In your role, you will work with quality assurance and continuous improvement as a natural part of the work. You are responsible for monitoring compliance with the laws, regulations, and directives that govern the area and keeping updated on upcoming changes in laws and regulations and how they may affect the administration's operations.

You also have a task to carry out competence development initiatives in the area for the administration's managers and employees. Your immediate supervisor is the head of the Strategy and Investigation Department.

Who are we looking for?

You have a bachelor's or master's degree of at least 120 credits/180 higher education credits with a pedagogical focus on the school system and pedagogical insight according to the requirements of the Education Act acquired through education and experience. If you also have additional training in school law, it is an asset.

The position requires that you have around ten years of relevant work experience from the education sector with children and students and that you have experience in writing reports and statements as well as experience in complaint management within the school's areas of responsibility. Good knowledge of the laws and regulations that govern the administration's operations is necessary, and we would also like you to have experience in investigative work. If you have managerial experience from the education sector or experience in a leading position in a politically governed organization or towards a board, it is an asset.

Of course, you handle digital tools as a natural part of your work and are good at expressing yourself clearly, pedagogically, and professionally both verbally and in writing in Swedish. You are good at building good relationships both internally and externally. To succeed in the role, you have a good ability to gather and analyze information but are also skilled at both noticing details and having a holistic perspective. Good administrative skills are a prerequisite for the position, as well as being a person who can plan, organize, prioritize, drive, and follow up on your work.

When we want to offer you the position, you will need to present an extract from the police criminal record for us to be able to employ you, according to the provisions in Chapter 2, Sections 31-33 of the Education Act.

The Strategy and Investigation Department is a newly established department as of January 1, 2026, with approximately 20 employees. Our mission is to provide supportive work to the head of the administration by planning, coordinating, following up, and evaluating the overall goal and results work of the administration's long-term strategies and annual operational plans. This includes both the municipal and state assignments.

The department is also responsible for managing the administration's projects and investigations, strategic development of IT and support in digital operational support, as well as assisting the administration with support in information security and school legal matters and complaint management. Internal and external communication, administrative work related to the Department of Education, as well as supervision and oversight of independent operations are also included as areas of responsibility in the department. The Department of Education conducts educational activities ranging from preschool to adult education.
